At Riverside, we love seeing our members get creative on the course. Recently, a group of local educators from St Joseph’s Brunswick West Primary School decided to bring a bit of internet inspired excitement to their home course during the school holidays.
Inspired by popular golf challenges on YouTube, longtime member Josh Sloan pitched a fun idea to his colleagues: The Gauntlet.
What is The Gauntlet?
The rules are simple but high pressure. In this match play challenge, one player must attempt to outshine all their competitors. As the group moves through the holes, the tension builds until only one person is left standing to claim victory.
The team, consisting of Will, Sam, Josh, and Riley, started their battle on the 6th hole. By the time they reached the 8th, the competition had reached an epic showdown. While Josh put up a brave fight as the last man standing, it was Riley who emerged victorious, successfully knocking out all three players to secure the win before even reaching the 9th green.

More Than Just a Game
The group is part of a unique teaching team at St Joseph’s Brunswick West. This shared love for sport has brought them together, and while they play at various courses, they consider Riverside their true home.
This "Gauntlet" challenge wasn't just for fun, however. The team is currently in training for a big event: the very first St Joseph’s Cup, where they will face off against the teaching team from St Joseph’s Mernda.
Community Spirit at Riverside
We are thrilled that Josh, Riley, Will, and Sam chose our fairways to prepare for their upcoming trophy hunt. It is wonderful to see local teachers staying active and building camaraderie on our course during their well earned break.
We wish the St Joseph’s Brunswick West team the very best of luck in the St Joseph’s Cup. We will be cheering for our Riverside locals to bring the trophy home!
