One of our Riverside members recently pulled off something you don’t see every day—an Albatross on Hole 1.
The Setup
Playing off the white tees, our golfer teed off with their trusted Taylormade R9 Extra Stiff Shaft Driver, shaping their usual right to left draw.
“The ball went exactly where I aimed—up over the trees on the right-hand side of the fairway. It came down on the hill beside the green and rolled right across it.”
At first glance, it looked like the ball might have rolled off the green. Armed with a wedge and putter, they approached expecting a tricky shot from the side…
A Surprising Finish
“I thought it had rolled off the green as I lost sight of it. But as I walked past the hole, my friend Sean said, ‘Have a look in the hole.’ I laughed and said, ‘Imagine!’—only to be completely shocked when I looked in and saw the ball looking back at me!”
The shot turned out to be not just an Albatross, but also their first hole-in-one after 15 years of playing golf.
One for the Scorecard
