Management Update

We’re through our first summer of management at Riverside and it’s been great to get to know the community. The transition of management mid-COVID was interesting, however, this was smooth for all members and regular golfers.

The course is on the improve and the irrigation system is getting a complete overhaul. The mini-golf course is being maintained, the hospitality offering by Xavier and James Dimattina has been successful and our clubs are all engaged. Our VETS group on a Wednesday have been welcomed with open arms up at the cafe for their weekly presentations and the pro shop has been slowly stocked back up to normal. We have new golf carts, buggies, hire clubs and greenskeeping equipment. Our ladies’ golf clinics are well attended and a new junior golf program will kick off in term 2.

It’s great to see so many of our golfers using the online golf booking system. This improvement was vital through the period we were adhering to strict COVID regulations.

The partnership with Moonee Valley City Council has been great and it’s clear they’re committed to community sport, recreation and leisure.

Of course, the summer wasn’t without some learning. A hot weekend combined with some irrigation hiccups didn’t fare well for the greens, however, all but the 3rd have slowly recovered. Works are required in this area, with more info to follow. Furthermore, pre-Xmas we had the storms rip through the area causing wide-scale damage to trees, which we were able to clean up earlier this year.

We’re looking forward to a busy 2022 as we complete the irrigation works in partnership with the council. We’ll continue to see the course improvements Green Options are making. More golf programs will be added and watch as the local community further embrace their ‘local’ bar and cafe.

The community is excited to see the results of the recent Master Plan engagement, which will provide some options for the future development of this jewel in the crown facility.
